This research paper explores the intersection of ChatGPT, a cutting-edge conversational AI model, and Social-emotional Learning (SEL) to nurture emotional intelligence in educational contexts. With the increasing recognition of the importance of SEL in holistic student development, the potential of ChatGPT to facilitate conversations that support emotional growth is significant. This paper examines the theoretical underpinnings of SEL, the capabilities of ChatGPT, and their integration to foster emotional intelligence. It discusses the benefits, and challenges, and proposes strategies for the effective implementation of ChatGPT in line with SEL goals and principles. By exploring how conversational interfaces can contribute to emotional intelligence development, this paper contributes to advancing SEL practices in education.
